Dr Zungu is an ecologist, naturalist, and conservation biologist. His primary interests lie in plant-animal mutualistic interactions. He is particularly interested in how these are affected by human impacts. He also has a parallel interest in systematic conservation planning. His current work is on multidisciplinary research, focusing primarily on the linkages between biodiversity, ecosystem services, and human well-being in urban green spaces, and on the ecology of human-dominated landscapes (including agricultural landscapes).
