Mr Jeffrey Lebepe is a freshwater biologist. His research interest includes understanding the effects of multiple stressors on the health of freshwater fish and the bio-accumulation trends of metals across different fish tissues. He is currently involved in the project which assesses the effects of water pollution on the health of freshwater fish species using enzymatic biomarkers and histopathology in the Olifants River system in Mpumalanga. The project further measures the metal levels in fish tissues and evaluate the human health risks upon consumption of fish from the contaminated Olifants River system.
