Professor Abin Gupthar
 Abindra Supersad Gupthargreen-border (1)     
Prof Gupthar trained as a biochemist at the University of Durban -Westville and later pursued MSc and PhD studies at the University of the Witwatersrand involving yeast biotechnology . He is a recipient of an IUB fellowship, the Mellor Biophysics Award and has a second doctorate in Biochemistry Education from the University of KwaZulu-Natal.

His work focuses on microbial biotechnology and remediation of student difficulties with varied forms of symbolism used in Molecular Biology. Prof Gupthar has lectured in Biochemistry for over 25 years.
